Egg help?!?

I have 2 pullets that started laying on Monday. But there was no new eggs today or yesterday. My other chickens consistently lay once they started either everyday or every other. They are maybe production reds. I can wait... I would just hate if there is something to do and I’m not. I’m still new to chickens. Help?!?

I wouldn't be too worried. Some take a while to get going properly and lay irregularly for a few weeks at first. As long as you are sure they are eating enough protein and calcium and there is no obvious illness, they should be fine.

Well one of the egg shells was weak on Monday. My older chickens almost 9 month olds chase the 5 month old away. I have four feeders to try and help but they still always eat last.

Someone has to eat last! At least they ARE eating. That's good. It's all part of the pecking order.

Okay. That’s true. I always feel bad for them but they do get to eat!

Each of mine lay 4-5 eggs in 7 days, skipping isn't a big deal, I can't eat that many eggs anyway

I used to feel bad for my low ranking pullets but got over it by just reminding myself, they're not human and their feelings are not hurt. It's just the way it is with chickens.
I spread food all over the run for the lowest ranking girls so there are plenty of places to get some grub. They do get their exercise though running from spot to spot to avoid the higher ups!

When mine first started laying, two of them went a whole week between the first egg and the second one. Then they laid some softshell eggs. One of mine laid every three days for two weeks. The last one laid almost every day from the start. They are all different.

A week!?!? Okay that’s a super long time. They turned 16 weeks today. I’ll be patient. I did notice a yolk in the coop yesterday but I wrote it off as maybe the third baby chick laid and I just couldn’t confirm. When I went back to look 10 minutes later it was gone and no sign of anything.

The yolk got ate by one of them! The best thing to do is keep them from eating their own eggs! It will happen every now and then but once one starts doing it consistently, they all will and it’s a hard habit to break! I am that boat right now but I know which one does it. She’s ate 11 eggs in the last 2 weeks. I know what time they usually lay but I just can’t be there most of the time to get them out quick enough. If they are doing that, it means they need more protein(meal worms) which will help reduce them eating the eggs, so I’ve been told anyways. Still trying to fix it myself at the moment.
