I just realized that you can breed bro and sis with no probs. I want to hatch eggs in the new bator I got. I put one of my eggs in the fridge today. Can I still hatch it? I put it in at about 11 o'clock this morning. I also put one in the fridge on Wednesday. Is it hatchable? I just want to make sure, humidity should be at 50% to 60% in the first 18 days. After that it should be above 60%. Is there a certain percentage? Temp should be 36.7, should that change at all? I will post a pic of my incubator. Thank you!

Store bought eggs are candled before packaging and fertile eggs would be tossed out. Besides, I've never heard of commercial egg operations employing roosters to entertain the hens.

There have been people her who have successfully hatched eggs that have been refrigerated.

I don't think a fertile egg can be ID'd by candling.
But yeah most commercial layer have no males housed with them.
Tho there used to be some fertile eggs sold at Trader Joes, cartons were clearly marked 'fertile'....hatching them was quite the rage here at that time.

I've(well, a broody) hatched a refrigerated egg.
It was 13 days old and had been in the fridge for 3-4 days.

I have it stored to hatch and I am testing my incubator. I have a mini 24 egg incubator. I will set them next Saturday, so I will set how ever many I get. How can I lower the humidity? It is at 65 and I know it needs to be 10% lower than that. Thank you!
