Egg laid from a branch?

Apparently my hens lay at night because while I found none this morning, I found 4 eggs tonight when I checked on them. One of them was laid from a branch about 4 ft up in the coop, and of course it fell on landing.

Is this a one-time thing? Aside from losing the eggs, the mess could get annoying. Should I remove the branch or will she figure it out on her own?

Our chickens have done this before, they have laid from the roosts while still asleep. It is quite annoying. I did a search of some old threads. If the other hens are all laying in the right place, perhaps you could just remove the roost for a couple of days and see what happens, get her back into the habit. (If not I was going to suggest fake eggs in the nest)

It does happen could be a time cycle who knows. When they need to lay & its dark in the coop they have no choice but bombs away. They can't see in the dark.
