Egg laid on bedding covered in poop...

when you say “washed“...do you mean washed with water or dry washed? i would rather not waste anything. if i found an egg in the run, i would have tossed it...but i know this egg was fresh in the coop today.
I would have "washed" it. Meaning I would have run it under tepid water while moving it around in my hand getting the poop off while being careful not to rub hard to remove the bloom.
Then, I would have pat it dry with a paper towel, cracked it, cook it and ate it. YUM!!! Fresh egg.
If not, I would have done the same and fed it to the girls scrambled. Oh boy do they love a good scrambled egg. Lol

i am a little bit leery. my grandparents had anywhere from 30-1200 chickens growing up next door. we never ate eggs from the floor or run. the only times i’ve ever gotten food poisoning were from friend’s eggs...granted they were in well used card board crates and often placed upside down...but i suspect they were run or coop floor eggs that didn’t get collected very soon. but... 24 hours of hell...and considering we collect 18 eggs a day...i think i’ll just toss them. maybe i’ll scramble it and feed it to the chickens.
