I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long it will be before my new chickens begin to lay. They were given to us and a couple have started laying again, but most have not. I know it probably depends on the individual bird, but I was just curious. Also is there anything I need to be doing to help them settle in here? Thanks, Misty

How old are they? Pullets will start anywhere from 4-7 months. Feed them layer feed of 16% protein along with fresh water and calcium. Keep their living quarters clean and make sure they have comfy nests with fake eggs.

I think these were "already laying hens" they received, which stopped laying from the stress of the move. Is that correct? Do you add apple cider vinegar to their water? Ive found it helps. It usually takes a few weeks for them to get back to laying. Just make sure they have plenty of protein in their diet and plenty of water.
