Egg laying after raising brood

Our silky is raising 4 two week old chicks. About how long will it be before she starts to lay again?

In my experience she will keep them with her for 6 weeks or more, and drive them off when she's had enough and thinks they can cope without her. She'll start laying again from about a month after that.

Yep, both weaning and laying can vary greatly.
Have had mama wean chicks at 4 weeks, then lay a week later...
.....others have gone longer on both.
