Hi!!

My 5 girls just turned one year old and two of them have become broody. I am unable to have roos where I live so have put some fertilized eggs under both of the broody girls to see if they will hatch. My other 3 hens have stopped laying daily which they had been faithfully doing for months. I know that the broody hens wont lay while broody but can the other hens be impacted in their egg production?? Any suggestions? I know that some people move their broody hens to their own enclosure but I have kept them in their current coop all together at this point as they have been broody for only a week. Thanks for any input!! These are my first chickens so I am still learning.

Any changes in flock dynamics or behaviors will cause a halt in laying. Often broody hens cause other hens to either become broody themselves or at least cause some to stop laying. At this point there's not much you can do except expect less eggs for a while.
