Egg Laying Increasing

We have 19 Gold Comets and for the past month we've been getting between 17 and 19 big brown ones each and every day without fail. They're all pullets (under a year) and they're a mix of six that are 11 months, six are 9 months, and seven are 7 months old. And we've been having a lot of cold days and nights here in central North Carolina with daytime temps in the low forties and nights down in the low twenties or less. We've had sleet, rain, and snow in the past week but our Gals have been working hard. They've kept their beaks to the grindstone. Maybe it's the breed but these GC's are great producers. I don't push them with lights or anything either. They have a nice dry coop and a big covered run which now has tarps on the sides and back for windbreaks. They get a good bit of greens because we still have a lot of collards, turnip greens, and kale in the garden. When I go out to cut some I give them the outer leaves that don't go in the pot. And when I can find it cheap I'll buy head lettuce and hang a whole head from a string and make a lettuce pinata for them to bat around. If we have left over rice or beans we'll mix that with some plain yougart and give 'em that. It acts as a great probiotic and keeps them from getting the runs. They also get plenty of fresh water that I add about a quarter of a cup of apple cider vinegar to a three gallon waterer. We keep the coop and run clean and don't let the poop pile up. They have about four inches or so of creek sand in the run that keeps dry and they do a lot of dust baths throughout the day.

They're happy chickens!!! Whatever we're doing seems to be working. What else can I say?
