I have one out of nine chickens that has started laying....inconsistent, but laying. They are all 19 weeks old. Black Australorps, RIR's, and a lone Buff O.
My question is, once the Oklahoma heat subsides, (114° for wednesday) and we start the downward side of the heat, and they stop panting so much, should I be expecting a regular pattern of egg production since they will all be in the range of maturity? This being if I have nine NORMAL hens?
Thanks for the responses in advance.

Those breeds should be laying by 5 or 6 months old. So, yes, by the time it gets cooler they should all be laying.

That sort of heat sounds absolutely awful!

Thanks for the reply!
What I'm really wanting to know is.....is the fall season a good time for good production of eggs from your flock, just as the spring time is? (for hens who are just now coming of age)

Usually for new hens it is a productive time. Older hens or hens who have been laying all summer may be slowing down and or molting.

I also got eggs most of the winter in my first year. Not one everyday from every bird, but like 3 a day from 5 birds.
