I have two flocks. One is a mix of breeds and one is just Dels. Now previous to this I had the marans which are now part of the mixed flock seperate and the Dels which are now seperate in the mixed flock. Understand?
Well when the CM's were seperate to themselves they laid 4-5 eggs a day even in the cold of winter.
The Dels on the other hand I'm not sure were laying as well. 7 Del hens.

Now that the two breeds are switched the Dels are laying 4-6 eggs each day. (there are now only 6 Del hens).

The CM's which are now part of the mixed flock are not laying as well as when they were seperate to themselves. (since their eggs are dark they are easy to spot.)

So, the question. Does anyone know whether single breed flocks lay better than mixed breed flocks?
