When do ducks start laying eggs and how often will they lay them? And where do they lay them?

They starting laying between the 20-24 week range on average. An average about every other day or 2 out of 3 days. They lay them where ever they want...lol.

That can be chickens sometimes, too.

Depends upon the ducks. What breeds, how old they are, etc. Being females really makes a difference!

My Mallards didn't start until 9 months and lay only in the spring.

Depends on the breed and their environment.

My runners started laying between 16 weeks (first egg) and 22 weeks (everyone laying). Some lay almost daily. They usually lay in a nest they make in their house. Sometimes one slips out elsewhere. ooops.

Larger breeds (runners weigh about 4 pounds) start later. Summer and fall hatched ducklings often wait till the following spring. Not always, though.

I've read that light is what affects laying. I find temperature at least as important.
