Just got two hens yesterday both Araucanas any advice before they start laying? When should I collect since I want to hatch my first batch.

Collect whenever you get a minute!

At least once a day. I think most of the eggs get laid before noon.

First off, do you have a rooster or were they with a rooster? Are they pullets (hens that aren't laying yet) or are they hens that have been laying?? It might take a few days for them to start back to laying and you want to make sure the eggs are feritile before you start to set them... If you don't have a roo, you have to set the eggs that are laid within the next few days (it seems like they stay fertile for 10days--not sure). If you do have a roo then you can wait a little longer...Good luck...Dixie

Yeah, I have two roos about the same size as the hens and they get along with each other and they're both a year old. Are they old enough to lay?

Have they layed yet? Sometimes when a bird is moved to a new home they may stop laying for awhile until they get readgusted to their new surroundings. Good luck and have fun...
