I'll apologize now if this is the 10 millionth and 1 time this has been asked because I'm a newbie and having trouble remembering ALL the stuff I should know about keeping CHICKENS. Is a moist vent proof positive that a pullet is laying or just that she is capable and or ready to. It was easy to tell who laid with the first 5 girls now with 5 more not so easy pezy.

Hmmm...not sure I paid that much attention when I was learning to examine POL pullets.
Off the top of my head I'd say moistness doesn't happen until they are actually laying.

We have have a pair of gold laced Wyandottes that are the same age the smallest in size pullet has been laying for 3-4 weeks and the larger one is squatting for at least 2 weeks but haven't seen an egg...we have checked all the know out side of the coop spots...its been 95-100 for the last 3 ish weeks so she may not be laying...
