Found this egg on the floor of the coop this morning. No noticeable shell except maybe a little on the bottom. I remember reading about these, but don't remember if they are common or if I should be worried. My first eggs from these hens (Production Reds) were on May 26th.
I am feeding Layena, some Grow feed and an occasional treat of scratch. The girls have oyster shell access both inside and outside the coop. They free range 8-10 hours per day, but always have access to food and water. I have been amazed at the strength of the shells compared to store bought eggs (harder to crack)...so I don't think it is a Calcium issue.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.
