Hello, I am hatching bobwhite quail egg. It has been over 2 days since one of the eggs pipped and I am wondering what I should do. Earlier today, I picked away some of the broken shell and dampened the membrane after, I then added more water to the incubator and put them back.

I am a little worried because I think they are meant to hatch 12-24 hours after pipping but that hasn't happened. Do I wait another day and see what happens and if nothing, assist them?

Thank you.

Are you 100% sure they externally pipped 48 hours ago?
What is your humidity at? Were there any veins when you candled? Bobs do take a really long time usually, so I think you should wait a bit longer.

Yep! They externally pipped early Friday, i'm not sure about the humidity exactly but I have been putting water in. I don't remember seeing any veins while candling them. I have seen them pecking at the membrane since starting this thread so I think I will just wait another day.

Thanks.

Did they all hatch?
I'm so glad! I figured they just needed a little more time. Congratulations!
Only the egg that pipped earliest hatched but the second should be soon! I doubt the third egg will hatch because they have developed very late (still hasn't shadowed but is moving). Thank you!
