This morning I found one of my sexlink eggs on the floor of the coop. She has been laying since the first day and its right on schedule. She is an early morning layer, eggs are extra large and shells are nice and thick. I found the egg right below the roost. Why would this of happened ?

Ok, so yesterday I found another egg on the floor.
My girls pecked at it and broke it. This morning I found another one. This time I found it before they can get to it.
I know which one is laying the egg on the floor. My question is, how does a chicken that has been laying in the nesting box since she started all of the a sudden lay on the floor? Also, how do I get her back to laying in the box?

No changes. No new chickens or laying ones. I plan to get up right at sunrise to see what is going on. If I see her on the floor I will move her to the nesting box. Don’t know what else to do.

Is the nest bedding fresh and clean? You could put a couple fake eggs in the nest boxes to encourage egg laying in them.

They are. All my laying hen use the boxes. This one also but she started laying on the floor lately. I will try the fake eggs. Thanks.
