Egg on the way??

Guys!! I think we are about to get our first egg ever!

One of my 23 week-old buff Orpington is inside the coop right now, apart from the rest of the flock. She is scratching inside the coop at the floor and trying to rearrange things in there.

This is unusual because they are always together (4 chickens total).

I think it’s happening!! She’s about to lay!!!!

Oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!

This can happen a few days before they start to lay. They may also practice their egg song for a few days just to really wind you up so don't be too disappointed if it doesn't happen today because it will almost certainly be tomorrow or the next day. Look forward to seeing a photo of that first egg very soon.

The first one is always magical....It will probably be small. It usually takes them a while before they are normal size.

Our Cochin recently started her first was almost round the size of a golf ball. It was the first day I noticed her nesting, but that could have been dumb luck! I should go back outside as I saw her in the next box about a hour ago... only three second time I’ve seen her there!
