Egg Painting

My son wants to do this so here it is:

I am trying to paint my brahma hens eggs(for decor). SO I want them to be the really beautiful kind. I was wondering that after they are blowed and dried, can I use regular paint to paint(like school paint) them? Then what can I do to make them shiny?

I use acrylic craft paint, and someone on the christmas crafts thread told us that you can put modge podge on them to make them shiny, though I haven't tried the modge podge yet.

Any home improvement store will carry a clear coat in the spray paint section. It comes in a can like spray paint, but it's perfectly clear and creates a very nice shine. It will also seal the underlying paint.
