Hi,
My beloved 3 year old hen Brownie has developed egg peritonitis.
I have taken her to the vet and they have put her on a course of antibiotics and Metacam, also I have been giving her liquid calcium in a gavage. She is eating her favourite foods but is certainly not eating normally or behaving like her usual self. The swelling has gone down a little in her abdomen and she is no longer pooping out yellow/white liquid - now they are very small but normal looking poops (solid brown with urates - but much smaller than her usual poop size!). She still seems fairly bright and has been mooching about with her little buddy in the garden today - but seems to be sleeping more than usual and is generally lethargic. Her comb is normal coloured. She has not developed the 'peguine' stance that I have seen on the internet search but she does look a little uncomfortable.
Any advice would be very much appreciated!
