Egg positioning during incubation

The darker the egg, the longer to wait to candle. With my dark brown, dark green, and turkey eggs, it's usually 10 days before I have a good view.

I use the brightest LED flashlight I could find.

Good to know, thanks! I'll check again in a day or two. I'll watch for movement too. Happily there are no clear eggs, but my understanding is that no movement = dead embryo, and that should be watched for as well.

Don't worry about the no movement. Just worry about no growth. At first. The eggs will look like the image posted above in the first seven days or less.. after that it will look a cloudy dark and harder to see definition of any sort especially in a dark egg. Towards the end the egg will look almost completely black. You may never see movement. do not throw the egg away thinking it is rotten. That is a big mistake. It is often a developing chick taking up all the room and about to hatch. I will try to post a short video of my eggs on about day 15. At the moment, I only have a photo. I have to figure out how to upload a video.

If your embryo is growing, it will be noticeably a bigger darker area every 4- five days or so
