I have a hen that has had a dirty butt for about a month or so. She had gotten sick and I had to pull out a broken soft shell from inside her that was sticking out and after that she perked up and was fine besides the dirty butt. Today i went out there and she is laying down and wanting to close her eyes. I have given her something the last two days for worms. Just cause before she got sick today i was thinking maybe that was her problem. Now though, I am thinking it is still an egg issue. I have not seen any worms in her feces but she also does not have a swollen abdomen and she also doesnt have that real yellow runny substance from the vent either that is associated with vent gleet or an egg problem. Thing is I have had one other bird that was internally laying and she NEVER had these symptoms either. Just the dirty butt too.
I was thinking about giving her some calium like tums but is there anything else anyone can come up with. I don't want to keep thinking its worms and waste time treating for that if it isn't. Any advice???
