My Buff Orphington is in dire need it seems. Please see photos. I cannot find the vent where the egg would normally come out. It appears that there are several tears in the internal skin around the egg. The egg does not appear to be broken. She is able to move well enough to try to avoid me picking her up.

I was able to place her in some warm water with epsom salt, but she would not stay in for more that a minute. I did not want to do more harm by having her squirm.

I looked at videos already. I am not able to located the open vent. There are a couple of hernias that look like they have been the vent, but they are not. When I lift the egg up in a certain direction she trys to push it out.

It seems that the egg has not actually pushed through the vent but rather it has created a large hernia next to the vent. I tried to rotate the egg and skin to find the vent. I was able to put my finger into what I think is the vent, but egg is not in that area, but beside it.

Not sure if that makes sense. Again there is no opening that I can try to move the egg through. I do think that the shell is cracked now, but the egg shape still remains. She is active and not acting stressed.

To top it off, there is a wasp nest above the area in the extra coop I have placed her. She shows no interest in any water, but did preen herself.

Not sure what I am going to do.

😢 I will look at her later to give her a chance to rest. Is it possible that when the egg came down the intestine she tried to push it out and it diverted to a weak area in the intestine creating a pouch that the egg is stuck in?

I have actually been able to push everything back inside of her which is when I located the vent area with my finger. I cannot think of what else would allow me to insert my finger that far into her.

When I placed a warm wet cloth around the egg and manipulated the egg to the angle she seemed to prefer, she would try to push, but again there was no hole for her to push the egg through. I was hoping I could push all of it back far enough into her that the egg remains and poop would be able to go down the correct channel. I will try again.

Then the thought of having to kill her is horrible. ☹️
