So first time chicken owner here! I got 3 white rocks, 2 Bantam Light Brahmas, a handsome black Australorp roo! I have 8 nesting boxes in my coop, i know my white rocks are laying cause they do it in the day! I thought they laid at night???!!! Now they are all using the same box, they scream if you go in there while they are laying. Is there anything I can do to not promote this cause my eggs in the nesting box are all getting cracked and not use able!!!!! Any advice on how to address this??? Thanks

Hi and :welcome
You may need to check the calcium levels in the feed if the egg shells are a little on the soft side.
You might also have an ' egg eater ' in which case the earlier you break that the behavior , the better.
Line the nest boxes with plenty of hay or straw and pop some fake eggs or golf balls in each.
Mine all insist on using one box and I gave up trying to persuade them otherwise.
Chickens don't lay after the sun goes down.

Pop some golf balls or fake eggs in the nest boxes. Be sure to collect eggs daily. The egg eater will have a go at the fake eggs and eventually give up. This method is the easiest and has worked for me, others have gone to the extent of drilling and emptying the eggs to fill them with mustard . Give the golf ball trick a go first, good luck. :)

Thank you! I added a few more places for them to lay and it seems to be control the one box thing, but I have a chicken who lays the best eggs but the are always cracked on just one of the tips, what is the cause of this? Maybe her trying to hard? Maybe she is laying it standing up and it is falling? Any ideas? Thank you

They do stand up to actually release the egg out of the vent into the nest....more bedding might help.
