Egg problems

I hope she is not egg bound but these ladies gave awesome advice if she is.

I think that the 2 most important things I have to have on hand at all times is B-complex and Calcium Gluconate! I guess not everyone has egg bound problems but I sure have with one of my girls and sometimes I see another with it too but mostly it's my little Eva. It's like a miracle fix for them and it's nice to have when you need it. Keep it refrigerated after opening by the way. Actually I keep both in the frige.

I need to order the stuff you showed a pic of. I have a powdered Calcium Citrate that I put in the water and sprinkled on some special treats when I was concerned with my rouen having a hard time passing that egg a few months ago. I feel so bad for those poor egg bound girls

Calcium citrate is for when the eggshells are soft or very thin. The calcium gluconate is for a whole different problem! It's always something!

You know, now that you mention it, that calcium on the outside of the egg could be caused from too much calcium if you've been giving calcium citrate on a regular basis! I only give it when their shells are thin or soft.

These egg shells have white coloured, irregularly shaped spots deposited onto the external surface of the shell. It can range from a few spots to a severe deposit, as shown in pic #6. Causes are:

- Defective shell glands;

- Disturbances and/or stress during the calcification process;

- Poor nutrition, for example excess calcium in the hen's diet.

somehow it magically makes them be able to pass a "stuck" egg. Don't ask me the science behind it, I just know it works!

Evidently it’s similar to what they give us women to get labor going quicker. I just forget what’s called. The calcium gluconate helps the duck move the egg down through the reproduction tract and out of the body!
