I'm new to chickens and have several RIR that are just coming into egg laying age. Once they lay their first egg should I expect an egg every day or two or do they take awhile to build up full production?

My RIR started laying in the summer and didn't stop until winter.

Well I get 4-5 eggs a week from my hatchery RIR. As far as what time of year they lay. Mine are still young (28 months old) and they laid all winter long. Depending on where you live some older hen my slow down during the winter months. But here in the south they'll lay year round. Also as well as getting to full production. Well that'll depends on the hen. I've seen some take 2-3 months, then I've seen some never slow down from the start. I would wait the 2 months before relying on a certain amount of eggs. Good luck
