Do chickens lay less eggs when it is hot? Last week I got 5 hens and a rooster. The first 2 days we got 3 eggs each day. The outside temp was hovering around 90. Since then temps have gone to the mid to upper 90s and every day since last Friday they have only laid 2?

My hen started laying on July 2nd, 105+ degrees here every day. She has only missed one day of laying so far. (Knock on wood)

It could be the heat, it could be they are still adjusting to their new environment even tho they laid the first couple days.

Do they less in winter?

Do they lay less in winter?

Yes, but it's because of the longer night darkness periods of winter in the northern hemisphere, not because of colder temperatures.
