My year and a half old buff orpington hen has been laying eggs that are slightly larger than the other hens, but they seem to have problems:
1, The shells are thin and break easily;
and
2, The inside of the eggs has the consistancy of water instead of the thick consistancy that egg fluids normally have. The yolk is the same deep yellow that the other hens yolks are, but there is almost no membrane holding it together so the minute you crack the egg and it falls into the pan the yolk is broken. But more than that, like I said before, the fluid isn't thick like egg fluids normally are. It's no thicker than water.
I've never seen eggs like this before, but she's been laying them like that for a month or more now.
Do any of you know what is happening here?
Thanks in advance for your insights and advice.
