Hey all, I have a few quick questions about eggs. After three weeks of owning her, my pekin started laying yesterday. She laid one yesterday and one today. She's kept with a mallard drake, so I candled them and and didn't see anything at all, so I don't think they're fertile, but I have zero experience with poultry and eggs, so I could be wrong. I put them in the fridge for scrambled eggs later. But I know it's hard to tell if they're fertile at first. If I want to eat them, do I have to refrigerate them right away, or can they lay around for a week in the pen while I wait to see if anything develops? Also, about how long are eggs good for in the fridge? And (I'm sorry for so many questions, haha), it's getting very cold outside now, so if her eggs do end up being fertile, and she leaves them to forage outside for the day, (which she does) won't it be like they're in a fridge already, and then they'll die anyway? Thanks for any info!
