I caught my girls scratching in the part of the yard where my cats poop. I don't know for sure, but I think they may have been eating some of the cats' poop. Should I eat the eggs or not? Is there more of a chance of ecoli/salmonella?

I'm watching them closer now... I may wait a few days before I eat any eggs.

Oh for heaven's sake!! There is nothing wrong with the eggs. Go ahead and use them.

Sorry. Honestly didn't know if the eggs would be effected. Of course, I will be cooking them.

I think that if you free range your chickens, and you try to keep track of everything they're eating out there, you will make yourself nuts.

Chickens are poop eaters, like it or not. That's just part of what they do. And people have been eating their eggs for centuries.

Even if the cat poop was full of who knows what that can kill you, if the chicken ate it, is alive and healthy, the bacteria in it's digestive tract should not be in the reproductive tract from which the egg comes out of.
