Hi, I’ve looked online for awhile but have never seen a good explanation. Is there any explanation for why a chicken or ducks eggs might suddenly tend towards long and pointy. I’m more noticing it with my 1 yo ducks but I’ve also seen it happen with my 2yo Buff Brahma. Could it be a nutritional deficiency? Wondering if anyone has a theory! Thanks.

Hi! Eggs can change in shape overtime because of the chickens stress. Have you changed food recently or added new things to the coop? Is there a run where the chickens can run outside? and is she possibly overcrowded? Sometimes during old, or young age the chickens egg shape and size may change. I will do some more research and get back to you shortly if I find anything else out. They are, however edible and the same type of egg you were eating before.

Stress sound very possible! We’ve been treating three of the hens for bumble foot every evening for almost 3 weeks now. I think it’s stressful on everyone but it’s possible that my three patient are the girls laying the pointy, tall eggs. Thank you.
