Egg Shape/Size

Okay....LAST QUESTION: is it normal that new eggs or eggs in general sort of have thick shells that are sort of hard to crack?

It means they're getting plenty of calcium so the shells are good and strong. It's a good thing, even if you do have to whack 'em harder to fry 'em up ;)

Awesome! We've been offering oyster shell crumble to them.
Thank you very much!

My Brahma has been squatting every time I pet her for over 2 weeks now and I'm pretty sure she isn't laying yet, just the Buff Orp and Australorp....I think. Is it a tell tale sign they are now laying hens?

My EE has been squatting for about 2 weeks too, still no eggs from her. I think they typically squat leading up to laying eggs
