Egg shell deformaties

One of my araucanas is laying beautiful lt. blue eggs. Unfortunately, last week these ugly bumpy lumps appeared in clusters on the shells. The bumps are the same color as the rest of the egg shell. Anyone know what causes this? Sort of like eggshell acne or something.

I suspect what you are seeing is excess calcium build-up. No biggie, perfectly harmless.

Thanks for the info and good source! I'm sure you are right. Of course, as is the way of the world the bumps on the blue eggs have gone away but now I am finding my eggs yolk-covered, I wonder what causes this? It has happened before...
