I have been reading about chicken getting egg bound. I noticed one of my hens acting weird. Not moving a lot and a bit lethargic. I was thing she was egg bound. I kept an eye on her and in the following days seem fine acting normal. A couple day ago I seen a soft egg shell hanging out of her. My question is, will she be ok? How do I help her? Is the yoke still inside her and will she pass it? She seem to be ok. I have a pretty big flock and the other girls seem fine.

How is she doing?

Was it an intact shell less egg or a membrane that you saw?
Did she expel it?

Hopefully she was able to expel the egg and you missed it. Most of the time other hens will gobble something like that down quickly.

As long as she seems o.k. then I'd just keep watch on her, but if you see another hanging out, then you may want to see if you can assist.

Thank so much for the reply. The other hens definitely gobbled it up I saw that. It had color but I am asassuming it was the membrane. It was like a thick string. She seem to be ok. Eating, drinking and running around like the rest.

If she was able to expel it and seems to be doing good, then I'd keep watch on her.
If she has a hard time again, then I'd get some extra calcium into her - 1 Calcium Citrate tablet once a day for 3-5 days.
