Egg shells.. replace every day?

I put a bowl of egg shells in for my buttons and budgies and it lasts at least 3 days, but I'm not sure if I shold be throwing out what they haven't eaten everyday and replacing it with fresh egg shell? Does it spoil? Does egg shell work as grit? And you know how when you peel the egg shell off a boiled egg the clear stuff sticks to the egg? Is that bad for them to eat?

I do know that egg shells are not a substitute for grit. It is calcium. Going bad????? I bake mine then crush them up real good and give those back to my chickens. Are you giving yours raw or baked then crushed? I imagine they would get rank if the shells were not heated some way. JMO. Good luck. Someone else will post

The egg shell is from Boiled eggs, so they are heated, in a way.

From boiled eggs I would throw out each day
I bake my shells
