egg shoots

Anyone know how to use these egg shoots? Are they worth keeping? Got the coup From a man off craigslist who didn't know the history of it.

That's strange, never seen anything like that, I suppose the eggs are supposed to roll into the holes., and down the pipes.

Are the bottoms of the nests slanted towards the pipes?

The nest drop straight down, and curve slightly, but they just empty in to the air. I was thinking maybe they were planning on a gutter system or something, but I would think that this would risk eggs breaking. I'm not sure. Haven't seen anything like it online.
