Hello,

I am starting to get eggs from the girls. BUT I'm a bit surprised by how small they are. Not sure what I expected, but these are teeny. As the girls get older will the eggs get bigger?

So far I've just got eggs from my buff orpington and easter Eggers, the barred rocks haven't produced anything yet. Girls are about 4-1/2 mos. old now (got them March 1st as day old chicks).

Yes, if you ahem Bantam chickens the eggs will continually be small. but, since your chickens have just started laying, almost all chickens start out by laying small eggs. As your chickens lay more, there egg size will increase. Treasure the eggs while there small though... they are just so darn cute!:love:love

Here are a few pics of first eggs ( yes... all of them are small!!)

Thanks everyone!! Guess I'll be patient and watch the egg size increase as the girls mature. Just love my girls, so dang cute and fun!!

Man my NH red just started laying 6 days ago and a leghorn 3 days ago. The both has laid an egg a day. Both birds eggs are tiny. Epsecially the leghorns. After reading this thread i assume they get bigger for both. Top row are store bought, middle row are reds and the bottom is the legs.
