so my texas A&Ms finally started laying. ..so much bigger than the coturnix

The A&M quail were developed from standard Coturnix to be a good dual purpose bird. They lay slightly larger eggs and dress out at a heavier weight. I have heard that they aren't quite as prolific layers, but have not noticed any difference in the quantity of eggs I get from them vs. Golden Coturnix.

I'll be setting some Texas A&m' from JMF tomarow. I'll weigh them as I Prepare them for the incubator.
Some of my Browns lay much larger than others. I am going to be interest to compare the A&M' ,as well as the Pharoahs for egg weight.
