is it possible for egg sizes to decrease dramatically is there another bird in the chicken coop

Normally that won't happen but sometimes they will lay an egg that's different from the type they normally lay, then go back to laying their "normal" kind the next day.

Our eggs have always increased in size for the first month or so and then stayed the same with an occasional whopper thrown in for good measure. However, we have one hen that lays a huge egg 5 days a week and then a small one for one day then back to her big ones. Not sure why.
