Is my bird the only one that starts the egg song before she heads into the coop to lay. She is so silly!

That's so funny. None of my girls started singing until after they were laying at least a week or two. Some, well the ones lower on the order, don't even let a peep out. But my little Ninny... she's a singer! Course she is a very small bird with my largest egg. What is up with that. Are EE's just really great at big eggs? It is bigger than my RIR, though hers is wider but as far as weight... it wins big.

Lulu, our lame runt that lays eggs in the kitchen sings before she ssteps into the box to lay her egg. Just letting everyone know, she came in for a reason.

My flock is not that noisy for some reason. They are good layers and March 24th they will be 7 months old but most days the only one singing is the rooster, Hercules. I have witness one of my EEs singing after she got ou the nest and I never hear any of my rir hens sing. The majority of the time when I hear what I think is the egg song and I go to the chicken kingdom it is rooster Hercules singing!

Our little late blooming cochin finally started laying at 11 months old, and she sings BEFORE she lays.

I'm not sure why this was so funny, but she had us in tears last weekend with her new egg song. "bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, buGAWK!!!"

These silly birds. Real entertainment I tell you!

Ninny did it again today. I think she does it to fool me.... she likes to see me hunt for eggs and come up with nothing.
