Egg song

Soooo, my hens, 2 Australorp 1buff Orpington are about 16-20 weeks old.
My alpha Australorp is making the rising cackle sound. I guess an egg laying song.
but she’s just walking the yard, not laying anything! Not sitting just makes the sound.
she’s a week or so younger than the other Australorp. Is she just telling everybody (the other two? She’s queen or is she getting ready to lay an egg?! Neither of the three are submissive squatting yet when approached. What’s up with these girls?

This one may be closer to laying than you think. Next time you pick her up slide two fingers between her pelvic bones on either side of her vent. If both fingers fit, she's going to lay an egg very, very soon.
