Why can't you---If you want to?? Do like I did, find a outlet to sell, then get set-up to hatch---for a while I hatched between 200 and 300 per week---now in the beginning I hatched 20 to 30 every 3 weeks---LOL. I remember my peak----had 949 eggs incubating at one time and stayed there for 3 weeks. Go For It!!!Nice! I wish I could hatch thousands of eggsI thought about getting another rooster!

I found a nice LARGE one for $2000 used. When my silkie chicken goes broody I am going to give her fertile eggs. I will have to buy some, but I'm not gonna let that broodiness go to waste lol!
Just some info----I would never start with a $2000 BIG incubator. I built my first cabinets you can see in the pic and I have bought several in the $100 to $250 range that hold 288 eggs---one cabinet that will hold 288 eggs and a hatcher is a Awesome start. You can set 96 eggs per week and move about that many to the hatcher each week after you get started.I might try. I will need to save up money for an incubator of course
That's a great idea, and much cheaper. If you don't mind me asking... How do you build an incubator?
Being Mechanically Inclined is a Big Help. Looking at a pic on the computer--I set down and sized mine out where ALL of it can be cut out of one sheet of plywood, built my turning racks using my metal brake, bought a few things---They work great.

What did you use for heat and moister?
Heat in the incubator is 2 heating rods---Looks like a metal rod but heats---the hatcher is a coil----similar to a screen door spring but a lot smaller. I choose the "size" plastic container/s to get the humidity where I want it(try different ones)..That's awesome! I could see how being mechanically inclined could help
