Egg Thief Who Did It

My broody hen has been sitting on six eggs for about 12 days and today when i went to get my other eggs i noticed that she was getting some water so i looked in her nest box and the six eggs were gone. There was new eggs in the other nest boxes but my soon to be chicks were gone. Who or what steals eggs and doesnt leave a trace. There was nothing not even a shell. Any ideas let me know

Are your nestboxes situated so that a jealous hen could roll them away from her nest to their own with their beak?? Sorry it's all I can think of....

Possums? They'll go after eggs before they go after chickens.

Regardless of the culprit, you have a problem. Time to set out some traps or a game cam. Also patrol your pen and take care of any lose wire, look for evidence of tunneling, etc...

snake. he'll be back. start checking the nests several times a nite after dark. eventually, you'll catch him.

a snake is what i was thinking had to kill one last year it went right up under my broody to gett hem.
