If you use a egg turner and the eggs start to hatch do the chicks just walk all over the egg turner or are you supposed to take it out prior to hatching? Newbie here

Differently take the turner out on the 18th day. Not only would the turner be a bear to clean afterwards, by taking it out you would prevent injury to the chicks becoming stuck in the turner. Good luck hatching

No you do not turn the egg after the 18th day The growing chick needs this time to position it self in order to pip and hatch and any turning would interfer with this. when the chick gets ready to hatch it positions it self so that it is laying on it's back and will pip the egg shell on the most highest point. Also when you remove the egg from the turn the eggs must be either laid on their sides or at no more than a 30 degree angle if you were to stand them into an egg carton as you would see them when purchased from a store your chicks have a very good chance of drowning as they break though the egg membrane first into the airspace and then the shell next. Here is a site I found ever helpful http://shilala.com/sitemap.html (The Easy Chicken Site Map)
