When the hen hatches the eggs she doesnt care which they are laying when man does it they stand on end. Are we saying that God does not know best? Just wondering
 
I actually incubate with eggs on their sides like it is done in nature. In some egg turners that roll you have to place the egg sideways.
I believe the best way to incubate is at a constant 45 degree angle with the large end up, rotated around its own axis.
I only place them completely upright to let the air bubble stabilize at the top during storage but during incubation I feel it is imprtant to make the embrio move from that top spot in the egg which a slight angle provides and ensures the small end is never higher than the large end.

The point about upright eggs taking up less space is an important reason big scale places use that method more and probably the main reason they are.
