Egg washing?

I wash mine with dawn dish soap and warm running water and refrigerate. If you have them at room temperature, they age much faster, so using them within a week is a good idea.
The 'rule of thumb' is that a day on the counter is a week in the refrigerator. In Europe, where many people don't refrigerate eggs, they also tend to shop daily and use food much faster.

It does get confusing  I leave mine out until I fill an egg carton, then put them in the frig. I tell family members to wash before using. Think I've read to NOT wash in cold water as it draws the "bacteria" in but thinking this means fresh warm eggs. I'm thinking since I store in the frig, washing in tap water prior to using it ok :pop

I think @Folly's place gave you some good advice, but wanted to add, from what I remember reading, it sounds like if you leave them out, it's better(?) to wash them, and if you put them in the fridge, you shouldn't wash them until you're ready to use them. :)
That's actually backwards. If you leave them out you can not wash them. When you wash them you remove the bloom which is the protective coating that keeps the harmful bacteria from entering the egg. Which leaves you susceptible to food poisoning. The cold from the refrigerator opens the pores in the egg, which also allows harmful bacteria to enter. So if you choose to refrigerate, you should always wash first.
