Hi,
My Oe layed an egg today that's 3 different colors. I've never had this problem before. What does it mean? Here is a picture of the egg:

Was the egg touched rate after it was layed? There's always a film on an egg when it's first layed, and (especially with high pigment eggs) I've seen the pigment washed off a little when touched before it dried off.

Most my olive eggers lay eggs like that.
The dark coating component is the reason, I believe.
Nothing to worry about.

Check #7 on this link. Do you think this might be it?

That does look weird. It looks like she started to lay it, changed her mind, and partially pulled it back for a while. I'd be tempted to blow that egg out and save the shell. Poke a small hole in each end and gently blow the egg out of it. Scrambled egg, anyone? Then dry that egg. You might make an ornament out of it.

If that is a one-off, I agree it is absolutely no big deal. We ae all entitled to an occasional oops. Even if you see that a lot I don't see it as a problem unless you are trying to sell them commercially. Just another way that chickens can be weird.
