Egg with air sack in the middle! Please help!

Hi! So I am incubating two chicken eggs for the first time and one has an air sack right in the middle not the top. It is developing normally except for the weird air sack. It’s not moving when turned. Is there anything I can do to help/fix this?

Any help would be very appreciated! Thank you!

They are supposed to hatch in five days.

Chances are, if the chick makes it, you will have to assist it. A chick forms in the position to pip onnthe end of the egg where the egg sac is supposed to be, and if that sac is not there, they will not get the air they need and suffocate.

OK when it’s time to hatch should I make a safety hole where the air sack is supposed to be? Also, how long should I wait to help it hatch?

I do not know very much about this, but I would keep an eye on it around the time the chicks are supposed to make their internal pip to start breathing air.

It’s also an egg with the reddish brown shell. I’ve heard those shells are harder. Is this true?

Did you ever get a picture? Have you ever incubated before? It’s hard to candle the darker shell colors. Are you sure that you’re not mistaking the air cell being attached at the end, but expanding down the side? As they get closer to hatch one side of the air cell will grow down towards the center of the egg from the bottom end. The dryer the incubation the larger the air cell will grow.

Oh sorry I forgot about the picture. I have incubated duck eggs before, but never chickens. The air sack is right in the middle and it’s not that big either.
