egg with grainy splotches on it

One of my hens that lays dark brown eggs has for the last two days had kind of grainy lighter brown splotches on her eggs, it feels like shell grains that are glued on. What is this?

I don't know what it is but we have had that before too. Abnormalities in eggs can be caused by age (just starting or ending laying cycle), or other factors, sometimes it is an indication of an illness but my experience has been it is just one of those things that sometimes happens, and it always goes away. I wouldn't worry about it unless it is a persistent thing or she shows other symptoms.
