I have a hen that was egg bound. Vet broke the egg and she is on clavamox. If/when she starts laying again, anyone know how long I have to toss her eggs?

Here's a link for you to read regarding clavamox. I recommend that you get in touch with your vet and ask him/her.

Ditto, call your vet.

I'm not sure, but I don't think Clavamox is on the list of drugs banned for use in food animals.

There is a big difference between banned drugs and "off label" drugs. From what little I know, you aren't supposed to ever eat the meat, eggs or milk from an animal that's beed treated with a banned drug like Baytril or metronidazole, but you CAN if they were treated with an off label one like albendazole or Fenbendazole, you just have to follow the recommended withdrawal time.

If you do call your vet, can you ask if the same is true for Amoxicillin?

Hi Kara,
I was wondering if you ever heard from your vet regarding clavamox and egg withdrawal?

Yes, she suggested we not ever eat her eggs again! The hen did not ever end up laying after that, and died a few months later.
