Hi

I have to give nystatin on my hens due to yeast infection. Does anyone know the right dosage, and also the withdrawal time for the eggs, if any? I saw on the net information that are confusing. In one site it said no withdrawal time, while on another it said 7 days. Anyone that knows something about it?

Thanx a lot in advance

nystatin is FDA approved for use in humans, so there should not be any harm from the eggs. don't know the dosage for chickens, but it's 5 cc for a human

x2- I routinely see patients of mine who have oral thrush who are prescribed Nystatin for swish and spit OR swish and swallow, so I can't imagine it would be bad for us..at the correct dose...

The problem i got at the moment is dosage. In the bottle it says it contains nystatin with an abundance of 100.000 IU/ML. How many mg is that per ml? Does anyone have a clue on this?

I found my way out of the dosage problem. In case you want to know yourself 1 ml of this medication (100.000 IU/ML) contains 20mg of pure nystatin. I give to my little hen 2 ml per day, one in the morning, and one in the evening, but it does not seem to work properly. Any other ideas on what else I can use to clean her intestines? I cannot find Epsom Salts here, and I am not sure what side effect Copper Sulfate may have. Any clues?

Nystatin is not absorbed into the blood stream and has to come into contact with the yeast/fungus directly.
I give 2ml a day (200,000iu/ml)
I found a dosage chart for chickens that said 300,000-600,000 directly and 100,000 in 1 liter drinking water.
I read it will have best effect when their crop is empty.
